You can transform your pickup into a RV by adding a truck camper. Finding the right one for your needs will be the hardest part. There will be many things you must look at when selecting a used truck camper. The 1st thing you want to figure out is the GVRW, or Gross Vehicle, Weight Rating, for your truck. This number represents the total weight capacity of the wagon. Most pickup lorries will have this information somewhere on their doors. This is the mixed weight of van and load that your pickup truck was made to handle.

You can identify the weight of the truck camper that that your lorry can hold once you subtract the weight of the wagon and any passengers. Most newer trucks will list the load Weight Rating on the glove box. This gives you the total cargo capacity of the wagon. The other number you want is the length of the bed of your van. Most lorry campers for sale are built to fit into a 8 foot truck bed. You can find some models of used lorry campers for sale that are made for a six foot truck bed.

Employing a van camper as opposed to a travel trailer or 5th wheel has many advantags. You’ll find used lorry campers in several different styles with a selection of features. Some common items people look for are a full bath, galley kitchen, and bed, or a far more paired down model with just a small fridge and a bed. You can pack a remarkable number of features into the small frame of a wagon camper.

One of the largest downsides of buying a truck camper instead of a travel trailer is that you have to do more to take in on and off your van. It’s not as easy to connect to your truck as a fifth wheel or travel trailer. You’ll need a strategy to raise your truck camper so you can back you pickup truck under it and then lower it. Most of the time you can do this in around 30 minutes when you have a tiny practice.
